Kent Folse is Head of Completions & Well Interventions for Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company based in Lagos, Nigeria. He received a BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Louisiana Lafayette in 1986 and has over 29 years of industry experience. He manages a team of completion and intervention engineers that support the Bonga asset offshore Nigeria. The Bonga field consists of 60+ subsea completions in 1,250 m of water with oil producers and paired water injectors tied back to a FPSO with 225k bopd capacity.

All prior well interventions performed in the Bonga field have been performed using the MODU which takes away from its primary purpose to drill and complete new wells. This case history highlights the challenges faced with execution of the first deep water light well intervention campaign in the Bonga Field on a cost effective vessel of opportunity with its required integration of equipment and services.
